Nation’s Largest Freight Rail Union Backs Hernandez for Arizona’s 7th Congressional District
Tucson, Arizona – The SMART Transportation Division (SMART-TD), the nation’s largest freight rail union and a powerful voice for transportation and railroad workers across the country, has endorsed Daniel Hernandez in his campaign for Arizona’s 7th Congressional District.
SMART-TD praised Hernandez’s steadfast support for working families and his strong record of advocating for safer workplaces, better wages, and expanded benefits.
“Daniel Hernandez has always stood with workers—and we’re proud to stand with him,” said Scott Jones, Director, Arizona Safety and Legislative Board, SMART-TD. “He understands the importance of strong unions, the safety issues impacting our members and the communities they serve, and protecting the dignity of work. We need more leaders like Daniel in Congress—leaders who listen, show up, and fight for working people every day.”

SMART-TD joins a growing coalition of organizations, grassroots donors, and community leaders supporting Hernandez’s bid for Congress. In the first 24 hours of his campaign, Hernandez raised over $100,000—75% of which came from donations under $100.
