Tucson, Arizona – The American Federation of Teachers’ Arizona Chapter endorsed Daniel Hernandez for AZ-07.
AFT represents over 1.8 million members nationally and is committed to fighting for public education and public service for students, families, and the communities they serve.
Hernandez has dedicated his career to bettering education in the district. He was the youngest school board president in Sunnyside district history and as a gun violence survivor has advocated for safer gun laws to protect students and teachers from extremism.
Hernandez’s campaign continues to gain momentum with new endorsements from officials and organizations at the federal, state, and local levels. He previously earned the support of the SMART Transportation Division, the nation’s largest freight rail union and a powerful voice for transportation and railroad workers across the country.
American Federation of Teachers Arizona President Ralph Quintana released the following statement:
“Daniel Hernandez, a steadfast ally and devoted partner of Labor, will always have AFT-AZ’s unwavering support, especially when contrasted with those who prioritize personal political ambition over principled leadership. This truth stands as the foundation of our endorsement.”
